About Us Ranch History
Reedan Ranch is located on the retired White Gull Jail Camp. For nearly 45 years
the provincial government ran a jail camp at this location. The inmates would
chop, cut, and process wood, selling it for both commercial use (lumber) and
firewood. When the inmates were finished with those duties for the day, they
also constructed all the log cabins at the camp. They did all their own
landscaping and in their spare time they built most of the furniture at the camp.
The camp was finally shut down in the late 1990’s, and closed up for good until
an outfitter bought the camp.
Daniel and
Reena both took Adventure Tourism and Outdoor Recreation and graduated from
Lakeland College in Vermilion, AB. After college both Reena and Daniel went
straight to being guides. The Rocky Mountains called and they both moved to the
mountains.
After years of guiding and leading trail rides up, down, and around the
mountains the two entrepreneurs decided to move back to their home province of
Saskatchewan and start their own ranch. Located in North Central Saskatchewan,
the ranch has unlimited beauty in the ways of untouched wilderness that is a
habitat for an abundance of wildlife, from trophy whitetail deer to the majestic
timber wolf. The ranch is within minutes of a half dozen lakes filled with
northern pike, walleye, and perch. In addition to all the lakes there are
several creeks and rivers, one of which encompasses the entire ranch.
Company Info
We are a young business who strives to exceed customer expectations with our
outstanding service and hospitality. We have two distinct seasons at the Reedan
Ranch. During summer June-mid October we offer trail rides that put you right in
the heart of the northern forest. On all our rides the chance of seeing any
number of animals is quite high. Be sure to bring your camera for the photo
opportunities are endless, not only in the landscape but for the wildlife as
well.
Here at the ranch our rides vary from one to three hours to all day rides. We provide
western riding lessons; taught by a level one western coach, also at the ranch
we provide colt training. Our ranch is not limited to horse related activities.
The White Gull Creek is a joy to swim in during the summer months, we have an
assortment of lifejackets. Hiking is another great joy to take part in. A few
trails take you by beaver lodges, thick stands of trembling aspen, and wildlife
galore. Our ranch is just a short drive to a variety of lakes for the avid
fisherman, and we are within a 45minute drive of one of the north's best golf
courses.
During our winter season, we cater to snowmobilers, cross-country skiers,
snowshoers, and winter enthusiasts alike. Our cabins have four bedrooms that
comfortably sleep eight, propane heat, separate shower and toilet, partial
kitchenettes, and satellite TV. The two cabins are available during both
seasons.
Company Future
We plan to build a camp kitchen/gazebo that overlooks the river. Also, in the
near future we hope to increase our herd to 25, and expand into the wilderness
by doing more pack/overnight trips, and to also offer sleigh rides. Eventually
we plan to ride from the Ranch all the way to the summit of the Esker. The Esker
is a ridge that overlooks the whole Narrow Hills Provincial Park and surrounding
area, and it goes all the way to Love, Sk., about 65-70kms.
Notes Area
The snow conditions are incredible. We have over 4 feet of snow and
